Envisioneering Background Information

Envisioneering's humble goal is to help engineers engineer better, assist communicators to more effectively reach larger internal and external audiences and counsel marketing managers to reach the broadest markets possible by using the fewest resources necessary in the shortest period of time.

The shortest distance between you and consumer electronics, digital computing, communications and electronic services markets can often be measured in units of Envisioneering benefit.

Envisioneering (as an adjectival verb) is the group process of transforming concepts, ideas and technologies into existing and emerging, definable and implementable markets. It is the process of refining and honing the product engineering process in mid-stream so as to take advantage of rapid changes in the competitive landscape.

Our overall philosophy and goals are described in the points below:

  • Spark creativity among technology managers
  • Provide cross-industry external perspective of new opportunity
  • Deliver Insight, On site to your managers and designers
  • Provide rapid analysis of industry events & announcements
  • Provide "You are There" video coverage of conferences
  • Test and assess your concept and product advantages vs. rivals' existing & planned stratagems
  • Communicate the benefit of your products & services internally, to customers and partners
  • Generate tactical stratagems to disassociate your competition from your customers & markets
  • Introduce you to partners & affiliates who will assure your market success
  • Provide forums and events to champion your organization's benefits

More specifically, to accomplish these goals with our clients, we have provided and performed the following benefits.

Electronic Services Our Specialty

Cable Modems, MPEG 2, DVD, DVD-ROM, MPEG 2 VBR, MPEG 4, H.324 video conferencing, Digital Satellite Services. All areas where Envisioneering has no peer.

Identifiers of Opportunity

We are without peer in assessing new media opportunities between. We are proud to be thought of as experts on identifying new opportunities (and tracking pitfalls) in electronic services subsidized markets.

Core Audience: Digital Media Developers & Electronic Services Integrators TEG's core audience strengths are multimedia and electronic content owners and publishers working with digital communications and compression hardware designers and integrators.

A Technical/Market Reference for Trade Press & Communications Specialists We are a referential source for technical and business press on a global basis. We have been featured in nearly every trade press journal and on CNN, CNBC and most networks. Senior analyst Richard Doherty is the most often quoted. Some of our best work is often not attributed.

Generate Communications Collateral, Technical Art

Envisioneering helps with communications collateral, such as explaining digital photography to Popular Science Magazine or Cable Modems to the New York Times or Digital Video Disc to The Economist. We like to make the most of any communications opportunity, for client and country.

Yes: Go Shop at Gimbels

Yes, we sometimes recommend other researchers and counsel if we feel under qualified (rarely) or that additional talent is needed in order to do a client's job properly. We're proud of our skills and facilities, but not so stupid as to risk a client's market opportunity by taking on more than we can handle. We know where to go for help when opportunity is knocking loudly.

Technology Transfer Experts

All our staff have been involved in product design and marketing, and know how to communicate well with others in similar and affiliated disciplines. We have created patented goods and services, and know how to maximize intellectual property protection through patent, copyright, trademark and process secret. Own more technologies than you can effectively market? Envisioneering will help you to find a paying partner, or a company that has a technology your group can benefit by. Suspect someone is infringing your turf? We have been expert witnesses in courtrooms and private arbitrations, speeding justice. Need a technology to get to market faster? Or, need some technology component from a competitor while refusing to surrender your competitive lead? Envisioneering can connect you with that opportunity in the shortest possible time.

Teaching Clients to Teach Themselves

Envisioneering's staff and contractors helping clients leverage their internal and external resources best as possible. At all times, we strive to help our clients better help themselves. We do not seek a position where we run up client hours with some sort of lab or market activity where we can better assist them by showing their existing staff and external counsel a way to go it alone. Our highest compliment is when a client calls back, thanks us, and respectfully asks whether we have the time to help them with another idea they've just had.

Developer Conference Experience

We have even co-sponsored a Developers' conference - the Infohighway Services & Developers Conference - with the EIA concurrent with the CES.

Pro active Standards Organization Involvement

To help expedite new markets, we often lend out cross-industry technical know how and market development savvy to technical, industry, and international standards bodies and working groups. In this way, we help build early consensus, which aids Envisioneering Labs and client interests.

Many Have Benefited, Few Have Known Our Handiwork Directly

While Envisioneering has provided cloaked, or "ghost" services for many larger market research organizations, the sanctity of our client confidentiality has never been reproached.

Strategic Audience of Technology Managers, Developers as Subscribers

We publish a print newsletter twice a month (now in its sixth year) and maintain a web site where we publish older news items and lengthy lab and market reports to help build an educated audience of market leaders and communications professionals.

Uncommon Market Reports

Periodically, Envisioneering spots a trend of key concern to a super set of subscribers, lab test clients and market development clients and we publish a report suitable for such an enlarged audience. For example, Direct TV Technology vs. Primestar, Motion Video Compression, Cable Modem Opportunities and Software Video Compression Comparisons have all gelled into large audience reports, delivered in notebooks, CD-ROM, BetaCam Video tape and Internet editions.

Our Mission

Envisioneering offers four basic services for clients as described below. Our mission is to maximize a client's own strategy skills: Throughout all these services, The Envisioneering Group's mission is to empower clients to do all these things better for themselves. As client organizations use Envisioneering methodology and adopt more efficient market development and communications practices, our engagement can show immediate payback. This philosophy allows clients to reduce their per capita demand on Envisioneering Group staff and services and at the same time, better allows Envisioneering to refine and optimize our services.

1.Market Development Counsel & Technology Transfer Facilitation

One-on-one counsel on building market awareness and receptiveness to client products. We assist management and staff in understanding how the company and its products are perceived by customers, rivals and industry alike. In this way, we are cost-effective in targeting the optimal assignment of technology development and market development resources, of both company talent and of physical facilities. We help clients recognize when they are entering a crowded venue, or when a near vacuum of market demand exists. We help clients with market entry strategy and tactical planning. We help locate associative technologies and products which can speed a client's entry to market and help identify industry trends and competitors which threaten client arrival.

2.Assessment of Technologies & Products, Competitive Rack up Generation

Absolute repeatability. The Envisioneering Lab is known as "An Alpha site with an attitude," an attitude and ongoing commitment to extract technology and product benefits - and weaknesses - which client companies are often too close to, to properly appreciate. Our E-lab is years ahead of Ziff Labs, NSTL and others in appreciating the specialized testing needs of advanced technologies. Trade publications rely on our credibility to justify difficult to understand technical arguments and customer benefits.

3.Cost-effective Representation at Technology Conferences,Trade Shows

We gather not just literature, but also the mood and temperament of the industry, it's receptiveness to appreciating a clients' products and technologies. Verbatim presentation records, meshed with the emotion and real meaning behind the words. The perceptions of the audience - and their receptiveness - to those messages. The misperceptions of the audience and of key opinion leaders are captured and relayed as to how they affect client opportunities. Videotapes of select sessions allow a "you-are-there" feeling so that you have the original material available to first-hand better understand key leaders' presentations and industry messages. Partial and full conference sponsorships are available.

4.Communications Strategies & Implementation

The collaborative assembly and consensus of messages to be used internally, with both existing and hoped-for customers, partners, investors, opinion leaders and trade press. The creation of communications strategies, blueprints, fact sheets and back grounders, to assist with one-on-one meetings with editors, to better empower them to communicate client benefit to their readers and industry audiences.
